This year is the second year that the Chinese government has granted workers a day off for the traditional festival. The holiday falls on May 28 but an extension day off will be granted to some on May 29. Folks will start getting things ready to make zongzi, a traditional snack made of sticky rice steamed inside a bamboo leaf. Chinese people eat zongzi during the Dragon Boat Festival as commemoration to the legend behind the festival.
